Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon with A New Leaf- April 26, 2017
On Wednesday, April 26th, members of the Women’ Club board were treated to a luncheon held to honor all the volunteers who help support A New Leaf and its programs and clients.
In attendance from left to right: Lydia Genovese-Pelly, Regina Shore, Donelyn Casad, Jackie Goodman, Susan Josephson, and photographer, Pam Clements. For the new board members, it was an opportunity to learn more about all the great work A New Leaf provides to help men, women, children and families in crisis. A New Leaf provides shelter and support to victims of homelessness, domestic violence and human trafficking. Their motto is “Helping families…saving lives.”
Now when these board members know where the money raised, school supplies and toiletries donated, and meals served goes and how it benefits the women and children in the crisis center at Faith House.
New Range for Faith House- March 16, 2017
Good things are happening for the Faith House residents and staff!!
Email on March 16th from Christine O'Brien, Shelter Coordinator at A New Leaf’s Faith House:
“Guess what arrived today!! I can't express how happy we are!! Tears of joy here at Faith House today. Making Lemon Chicken and Roasted Squash. Wish us luck!!”
Thank you to all who participated in the recent holiday fundraising events. The Women’s Club was able to donate over $6,000 to Free Arts for Abused Children. Even more exciting, we were able to present a check for $10,000 to the staff at A New Leaf’s Faith House to be used toward the purchase of a much-needed new commercial range.
Thank you to all who made this possible. As you can see from the photos, their old range was a very tired and temperamental one and their new one is bright and shiny! It’s so touching to see what a contribution like ours can do to make the lives of the staff and families so much easier

Cards from the Heart- May 8, 2016
Today, our Mother's Day brunch crew had a special surprise. The children made cards for their mothers and some of the mothers made cards for us!! We were moved to tears by these cards and the heartfelt messages. These are amazing women who are celebrating their new-found strengths and thanking us for the love and attention we give them. We always gain so much with every activity we do and the opportunity to bring some special attention to these women and their children and they are so appreciative. This is why we support Faith House!!

Faith House and Free Arts for Abused Children
The Trilogy at Vistancia Women's Club is both social and service oriented. We provide social opportunities for Trilogy women to meet old friends and meet new friends through a variety of events and activities including luncheons, field trips and fashion shows. We also support organizations that help women and children in need throughout the community through special activities and financial support through our annual fundraisers; the Holiday Home Tour and Corks for a Cause.
The Women's Club has supported A New Leaf's Faith House, a shelter for victims of Domestic Violence, for over eight years. This past year, the club has adopted another charity organization, Free Arts for Abused Children ( Free Arts/AZ ). Members of the Women's Club provide fun activities including the Mother's Day Brunch, BBQs and holiday parties and provide for essential
needs such as backpacks and school supplies, toiletries and bedding for Faith House.
The Women's Club is just now learning how members can help Free Arts, which provides therapy for abused and neglected children through the various art forms including dance, drawing and painting, costume design, writing and poetry, and many others.
By the generous contributions of TAVWC and the Trilogy community, we are making a difference in the lives of women and children in need.

Gingerbread Boys and Gingerbread Houses - December 9, 2015
Much fun was had by all at Faith House. On December 9th, moms and kids got into the Christmas spirit by decorating gingerbread cookies to put on a Christmas tree- and of course, many cookies found their way into mouths and tummies.

These elves helped with cookie decorating and especially with the creation of Gingerbread Houses worthy of Hansel and Gretel. Linda Heining completed the afternoon event by reading "There's Snow Time Like Cookie Time", a delightful children's storybook provided by the Women's Club.

Story Time at Faith House
On the second Wednesday of each month, a group of volunteers from the Women’s Club heads off to Faith House with treats furnished by Jo-Ann O’Beirne and books and activities coordinated by Tammy Kelly – a member of A New Leaf West Valley Advisory Council and former Women’s Club member.
This month’s activity was especially fun for the children in the Faith House Pre-School with a visit from Buckley, Denise Wysocki’s therapy dog. The children then framed and decorated pictures of Buckley to keep them company when he isn’t there to snuggle with.
Parker, one of the staff’s children, is front and center for all photos and an adorable little boy.
If you are interested in helping with story time and reaching out to these precious little children, you will need a background check and fingerprinting. You can contact either Tammy Kelly at tlkelly53@gmail.com or Pam Clements at pamela@clements.net to find out more about this fun and very rewarding activity.

Crisis Room Upgrades April 23, 2015
We had four maintenance staff here assembling the new beds and removing the old furniture today. Here is a sneak peak of what it looks like. It is taking some coordination to get this done because we have families in all the rooms. As Sandy and I were making the beds, we wondered out loud how many women and children will find peace and comfort in these beds... it's funny when you think about how therapeutic a bed can be for clients who sleep in them and the staff who make them.We plan on finishing the rooms tomorrow and hanging the art. I'll send you pictures when we are done. Just want you all to know that we are so grateful for all your support and the joy it brings.

On January 19th, the Trilogy Wine club and Women's Club in conjunction with the West Valley council for a New Leaf hosted a wine and food paring fundraiser. Attendees enjoyed six wines along with fabulous small bites to complement the wines. The appetizers and desserts were provided by the Cafe Solaz chef, Robert Kilgallon, and were both creatively presented and delicious. Great raves for the food and wine! Topping off the event were a silent auction, raffle, contest and music and dancing provided by a Touch Of Gray.

Dress up Time for the Preschool
The preschool director asked if we could provide some dress up costumes such as firemen, policemen, doctors, a princess, but especially anything with capes! It seems that doctors are interesting but superman is extra special!!! Not only did we provide the policemen, doctors, firemen and princesses; they especially loved the batman and superman and dinosaur costumes – with capes and masks. The girls loved the princess and bride outfits. What a kick we had with the policemen handcuffing their teachers and putting them in jail!
Special treats for Halloween were prepared by Jo-Ann O’Beirne.
*Note that children of staff members can have their photos taken but special care must be taken with resident children to protect their privacy.

Words from Faith House Moms
The Women’s Club touches so many with our activities supporting Faith House families. In return, we receive special personal thank you notes from residents and staff along with the feeling of helping families in need.
Thank You Vistancia Girl Scout Troop 2075
To earn a merit badge, these girl scouts are supporting the children at Faith House by providing children’s clothing. Working within the Vistancia family community, the girls collected two full car loads of much needed clothing for Faith House kids. They also learned about domestic violence and how it affects families – even within their community. Thanks go to Troop 2075 and their leader, Tracy Thompson!
School Supplies For Faith House
We'd like to offer heartfelt thanks to all who contributed to the Women’s Club backpack drive for the children at Faith House (the shelter for victims of domestic violence). Once again, Trilogy residents stepped up and gave generously. Because of your contributions, we are able to deliver backpacks filled with school supplies to every child at Faith House, as well as a few extras for children who arrive at the shelter during the year.
It is so important for these children to have something special of their very own to start school with when they are in such a difficult situation!
Thank you for helping the Trilogy Women’s Club help the families at Faith House. You are Helping Families… and Changing Lives!

While said tongue-in-cheek by Olivia Dukakis, your generosity brightened the day for Faith House's Steel Magnolias. Many thanks to those who contributed purses and personal items, and to those who prepared them for delivery.
