THE SPIRIT OF GIVING AT TRILOGY AT VISTANCIA
February 28, 2018
We are off to a good start! The overwhelming success of Mistletoe Magic allowed us to make gifts to the three organizations supported by our members:
- Justa Center received $20,200. Justa Center is a day resource center for individuals over 55 who are experiencing homelessness. The mission is to get these homeless seniors healthy and housed. They want to reduce the number of homeless seniors – including veterans – from living on the streets. The center provides employment, counseling, medical care, mail, laundry services, showers, food, clothing, and hygiene items.
- Faith House received $12,700. Faith House Crisis Shelter provides up to 120 days of emergency shelter to afford victims and their children the time and resources needed to recover from the trauma they experienced. Victims entering Faith House have been victims of domestic violence, human trafficking and homelessness. Offering a safe place and compassionate support can rebuild a victim and her family devastated by violence/trauma.
- Free Arts for Abused Children of Arizona received $10,200. The agency’s mission is healing abused and homeless children through artistic expression. They are guided by core values that 1) Art Heals, 2) Every Child Matters and 3) Mentoring works. Free Arts serves children who have experienced combinations of family trauma, homelessness, and violence and as a result have emotional and mental health issues that affect their abilities to make positive choices. The goal is to help them overcome these barriers by introducing them to the healing powers of the arts through caring mentors and teaching artists.
The Fashion Show was enjoyed by 200 women on February 12, 2018. Twelve beautiful women of all sizes modeled clothing from Dillard’s. Each model wore three outfits: sports casual, resort casual and evening wear. The food was delicious, the clothes were beautiful and it was a fun afternoon.
